Music Selection: Madonna – Crazy for you
In our house, when making banana bread or banana muffins, we have a dilemma – hubby doesn’t like chocolate chips, but likes nuts, etc. Kids like chocolate chips… the “crazy” solution – make both! This recipe should keep them all happy all day long…

Ingredients
4 ripe bananas, mashed
¼ cup oil
¼ cup melted butter
½ cup sugar
½ cup brown sugar
1 tsp cinnamon
Dash cloves
1 cup chocolate chips
2 cups flour
1 ½ tsp baking powder
½ tsp baking soda
½ tsp salt
¼ cup milk
Streusel for 7 muffins:
¼ cup flour
¼ cup brown sugar
¼ tsp salt
1/8 cup butter, cold
¼ tsp cinnamon
1/8 tsp cloves
Directions:
Preheat oven to 425 deg F and line a muffin tin with paper liners.
In large bowl, mash the bananas, and oil, butter, sugar, brown sugar, eggs, cinnamon, cloves, milk and salt. Mix well. Add in flour, baking powder and baking soda. Mix until just combined.
Fill six muffin tins ¾ full. In remaining batter, add the chocolate chips. Mix well and fill remaining 9 muffin tins.
Make the streusel topping by mixing flour, sugar, salt, cinnamon and cloves. Using a pastry cutter, cut in the butter until pea size. Sprinkle the streusel over the 6 muffins with no chocolate chips.
Place muffins in oven and bake for 8 minutes. WITHOUT OPENING THE OVEN, turn down the heat to 350 deg F and bake another 7 – 8 minutes. Cool the muffins for a few minutes before devouring them with butter and jam! Which one will you have first?
