Ingredients:
4 apples, peeled
¼ cup brown sugar
2 Tbsp cinnamon
Dash of cloves
1 sheet puff pastry, rolled
1 egg
Directions:
Preheat oven to 375 deg F.
On a large baking sheet, line it with parchment paper. Lay puff pastry on the parchment paper (roll it out thin if it isn’t rolled into a 12 inch by 12 inch square.
Peel apples and cut into quarters. Remove seeds. Slice the apples thinly lengthwise (so each slice is 2 – 3 inches long but 1/8 inch thick). Place in bowl. When all sliced, toss with brown sugar, cinnamon and cloves.
Cut the puff pastry into 3 equal strips that are 4 inches wide. Lay apples overlapping on each strip until covered. There should be a little pastry as edges.
Beat egg in a small bowl. Brush egg on pastry and apples.
Bake in oven for 25 – 30 minutes.
Cut into 12 slices. Serve with whipped cream and/or ice cream. You can also dust with icing sugar.
