Puffed Wheat Squares

Time: 20 minutes

A recipe that brings back memories for me when I was a kid, but also to my kids when they were younger! Kicking back with a flashback to Roger Whittaker and puffed wheat squares.

Music Selection: Roger Whittaker –Durham Town

Ingredients:

6 Tbsp Cocoa

1 cup corn syrup

½ cup butter

1 cup brown sugar

1 tsp vanilla

8 cups puffed wheat cereal

Directions:

Butter an 8 x 13 baking pan.

In large pot, melt butter. Add corn syrup, cocoa and brown sugar. Bring to a boil and boil for one minute. Remove from heat.

Add in the vanilla, then add the whole wheat. Mix well.

Pour into the baking pan while warm. Use a spatula or your hands to press it firmly. Let cool. Cut into squares and enjoy!
