French toast is my hubby’s favorite breakfast/brunch food. He even makes it for supper when he gets the chance!
Music Selection: Indila – Derniere Danse

Ingredients:
1/2 loaf French bread (best if it is a bit dry or a few days old)
4 eggs
2 cups cream or milk
3 Tbsp sugar (brown sugar adds extra flavour)
1 Tbsp cinnamon (or English pudding spice)
1 tsp vanilla
½ tsp cardamom
Dash of ground cloves
Toppings: maple syrup, fruit syrups, sliced peaches, fresh raspberries, whipped cream
Directions:
Cut up the bread into 1 inch thick slices. Let sit for a good 30 minutes, so it gets a little dry.

In a flat bowl, mix the cream, sugar, cinnamon, vanilla, cardamom, cloves and eggs well.

Heat a large skillet with some oil or butter.
Dip a piece of bread in the egg mix and let it soak for a second, then flip the bread and let the other side soak. Fry the bread in the pan (you may be able to fit 2 or 3 slices in your pan at a time). Let it brown, then flip it and brown the other side. You want the bread to be browned, but not mushy inside.

Serve with the toppings, coffee and orange juice! Don’t forget the side of thick, crispy bacon or sausages!
