Music Selection: Lea Michele – Anything’s Possible

Ingredients:

1 lb ground beef

3 italian sausages

280 g ricotta cheese

3 – 14 oz cans of pureed tomato sauce

3 cups grated mozzarella or mix cheese

1 lb ziti pasta

Handful fresh basil

Fresh parmesan for serving

Directions:

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Place sausages on a baking sheet with foil and cook until completely cooked – about 30 minutes. Let cool. Leave oven on.

In meantime, in large sauce pan, cook the ground beef. Salt/pepper. Add in two cans of the tomato sauce. Fill one of the cans with water and add to the sauce.

When the sausage is cooled, cut into small pieces and add to ground beef.

Pull the stems of the basil and cut finely. Add to the sauce. Then stir in the ricotta. Let simmer.

In meantime, in large pot of salted water, bring the water to boil. Add in the ziti and cook according to instructions (usually 12 – 15 minutes). Drain the pasta.

Take a large lasagna pan and brush with olive oil. Put the pasta in the pan.

Pour the meat sauce over the noodles and mix it well. Use the back of the spoon to flatten/even out the pasta.

Take the remaining can of tomato sauce and evenly spread it over the noodles.

Top with the grated cheese. Bake in oven for 20 minutes.

Serve with fresh parmesan and extra basil…. and a glass of wine?
